KINGDOM ASSIGNMENT GIVES BIRTH TO NEW OUTREACHES
As a result of our recent challenge from the UM District, the congregation is pleased to have established new community outreaches - Ainsley's Birthday Boxes, developed by one of our teen members, is in full swing now, as we put together birthday boxes for children living in shelters - how excited they are to be receiving a gift on their birthdays!
Our Knots of Love project is also in full swing. We have knotted blankets hanging on prayer altars in the sanctuary. Members are invited to come up and pray over the blankets and to knot as many knots as they would like. Once the blankets are complete, the blankets are delivered to folks in need - we have already reached out to several cancer patients to let them know they are wrapped in God's love and our prayers! A third outreach, to benefit a local veteran project, is in development.
We have now launched two Veteran's projects! We have opened up an ongoing collection for a Veteran's pantry in Waynesburg, PA. This pantry serves families of veterans who continue to be deployed. This pantry takes care of those families while their loved one is away. More information is coming. We also provide Grab-N-Go Bags for the Fisher House in Pittsburgh. These bags provide water, snacks, etc. for families whose loved ones are in the VA Hospital receiving treatment.
